New Design Launched!!

Please wear hard hats at all times during the viewing of this site as it is still under construction! (Some sections far more then others!)

After large amounts of coffee, patience, and determination I am proud to annouce the launch of the new look Bowmen of Guernsey website! We are still having some teething problems with the hosting, hence being redirected here! But hey, you didn't notice anyway!! ;)

At the moment, the site is essentially the old information in a new shell, but there are plans afoot to update the site with loads of information and photo's from the previous years, whilst keeping up to date with what is currently happening within the club.

With that in mind, I need help from you. Especially in the gallery section!! Do you have any photo's which you would be willing to submit? You can either e-mail them, drop them in on a cd or lend the actual photos (in an envelope please, with your name on) so that we can scan them in!

Robilliard takes the honours in Bowmen of Guernsey Championships

By Dave Nash

After the heat and pressure of Rhodes it's back to competing in our own back yard for the Bowmen of Guernsey Championships. For many of the competitors it was their first shoot since the Island Games.

The weather started poorly with a shower and breeze. The showers stopped and the weather became warmer but with a trickier breeze that strengthened throughout the day. The summer Championships are decided with a single F.I.T.A. round.

The results are as follows:

Gent's Compound
1st Toni Robilliard 1284
2nd Mike Appelqvist 1279
3rd Ian Le Page 1207 (144 hits)
Steve Yates 1207 (143 hits)
Mark Nicholls 1171
Kieran Kelly 1090 (first shoot)

Ladies Compound
1st Caroline Pinchemain 1054
2nd Viv Le Page 1046

Junior Compound
1st Michael Marquand 1146 (PB)

Gents Recurve
1st Chris Massey 963
2nd Mike Bisson 832
3rd Rod Loveridge 815
Ian Trump 749
Martyn Elliston 631

Ladies Recurve
1st Chantelle Goubert 951
2nd Laura Bridel 868

Junior Recurve
1st Jemma Loveridge 937
2nd Kim Torode 776

The next shoot the archers have to look forward to is another Longbow challenge followed by the annual International Double F.I.T.A. at Port Soif on the 1st and 2nd September 2007. If you’re passing Rovers Club pop in and have a look.

Congratulations!!

A big Congratulations is due to the Island Games team which has recently returned from the ever so sunny and hot island of Rhodes! (And all a few shades of skin tone darker then they left!) They returned with the biggest ever medal haul, with Toni Robiliard and Chantelle Goubert winning bronzes in the FITA round. The compound team held off the opposition to take the bronze also. Toni certainly was on form, taking silver in the Men's Compound Head to Head, with Mike Appleqvist beating Ian Le Page to the bronze! The Compound Team narrowly missed out on the final, but beat the Isle of Man to take bronze.
